Ovie Carroll has over 38-years law enforcement experience and is currently the Director for the Department of Justice, Cybercrime Lab at the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section (CCIPS). Mr. Carroll received the 2017 Presidential Rank Award of Meritorious Senior Professional for sustained superior accomplishments.
Prior to joining the Department of Justice, Mr. Carroll was the Special Agent in Charge of the Computer Investigations and Operations Branch at the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the Technical Crimes Unit at the Postal Inspector General’s Office. As a special agent, Mr. Carroll was responsible for coordinating national level computer intrusions and has extensive field experience applying his training to a broad variety of investigations and operations. Mr. Carroll has extensive field experience conducting investigations into a variety of offenses including computer intrusions, murder, rape, fraud, bribery, theft, child sexual assault, counterintelligence, and gangs and narcotics.
In his part time capacity, Mr. Carroll is a course author and Principal Instructor with the SANS Institute where he teaches advanced Windows computer forensics and was an adjunct professor with George Washington University for the Master of Forensic Science program.
